Easter Saturday. We can be optimistic

We can be optimistic. The piece of paper outlining our release from mandatory quarantine slid under the door at 10.45pm last night for our late night digestion. The news was both positive, anxiety provoking and supremely irrritating. And it really made us feel like we are exiting!

The positive - we will be released from quarantine on Sunday, that’s TOMORROW

The anxiety provoking- a planned and staged process that only begins at 12 noon, with a capacity to submit preferences, which will be accommodated where possible. Transport options remain unclear for out of state people, but friend or family pickups are not allowed. We have a 2.40 pm flight.

The supremely irritating- “if you need to book a flight, including interstate, please make this booking now”

More good excellent surprising, no downsides, news this morning. Our exemption application for entering WA was approved by WA Police last night, at 10.30 pm. PLUS the ‘direction’ into self quarantine is attached. This means our flight plans via Sydney have been considered to meet the requirements and removes our lingering fear that we might be ‘directed’ into another round of mandatory quarantine. When we canvassed that fear yesterday it was not a pleasant prospect.

So, all the ducks are lined up to deliver us home on Monday. So long as the flights hold, there are no unpleasant surprises exiting the airport in Sydney, and we are released on time to make that first flight. No police escorted bus convoy, a la Montivideo, speeding towards the airport this time for the nervous, always early to airport Jode. We’d settle for an orderly and timely exit from room 1073 Crown Promenade Hotel, Melbourne. And a sedate taxi ride to the airport.

Meanwhile egged on by our Dutch mates, I got a little manic last night with the produce to hand. And a little Jode inspired video folly this morning.
